In a twist of events, Artsana USA Inc., the manufacturer of Chicco KidFit booster seats, is reportedly set to oppose its own class-action settlement due to rampant claims of fraudulent activity in the settlement process. Earlier this year, a settlement was reached to reimburse consumers who had purchased one of six types of the Chicco KidFit booster seats that had allegedly been falsified as safe for children weighing a minimum of 30 pounds.
Despite having sold less than 875,000 booster seats within the period under review, Artsana USA has reportedly seen a volume of claims more than double that figure. Astoundingly, it has been suggested that as much as 99% of these claims could be fraudulent.
