Hogan Lovells Gains Legal Talent as Stroock Dissolution Approaches

As the imminent dissolution of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan looms closer, the firm will see much of its cadre transition to Hogan Lovells. The escalation of legal talent migration was confirmed by the firm anticipating an inevitable dissolution and consequently, a surge of approximately 28 partners will bolster the global presence of Hogan Lovells via their New York, Washington D.C., Miami, and Los Angeles offices.

A press release by Hogan Lovells welcomed the erstwhile powerhouses of Stroock, many of whom held leadership positions in their former firm. According to American Lawyer, the list includes celebrated figures such as:

  • Jeff Keitelman, co-managing partner at Stroock and co-chair of national real estate group.
  • Christopher Doyle, Chair of Stroock’s corporate practice.
  • Jeffrey Uffner, Chair of Stroock’s tax practice.
  • James Bernard, head of Stroock’s general litigation practice group.
  • Joseph Giminaro, head of Stroock’s tax certiorari practice.
  • Richard Madris, head of the infrastructure funds practice.

The comprehensive list of inbound partners to Hogan Lovells reveals more names from Stroock making the transition, with the possibility of additional partners making a similar move as they reassess their career trajectory.

The expansion has been met with eulogistic praise from Hogan Lovells CEO, Miguel Zaldivar, who expressed joy at the merger of such a skilled group of attorneys. Zaldivar’s comment indicated that the integration of the new team of lawyers will serve not only as an asset to their litigation, real estate, and corporate practice areas, but also as a strategic venture to bolster Hogan Lovell’s presence in major markets such as New York through the addition of high-performing lateral groups.

The transition of ex-Stroock partners to the new firm is set to officially take place on November 15.
