Following an impressive 17-year tenure leading one of the world’s most prominent firms, Edward Herlihy and Daniel Neff have decided to step down from their roles as co-chairs of Wachtell Lipton. Despite leaving their roles, the duo will continue their work on the firm’s executive committee.
During their time as the firm’s leaders, the duo guided the firm’s growth significantly, doubling its revenue from $443 million in 2006 to over $1 billion by 2021. Despite the hurdles posed by a global pandemic, the 2022 revenue forecasts show promise, with a similar trajectory to the previous year.
The firm’s leadership is set to be taken up by Andrew Nussbaum, a corporate partner, and William Savitt, co-chair of the firm’s litigation department. Savitt will retain his litigation co-chair title along with his new responsibility. In an interview with Bloomberg Law, the pair expressed their honored sentiments of being chosen to serve the partnership and stated their intention to maintain Wachtell Lipton’s success.
Their completed tenure marks the end of a successful era led by Herlihy and Neff, and denotes the beginning of Nussbaum and Savitt’s journey towards navigating the firm to further success.
