Crowell & Moring Expands NYC Presence with 10-Lawyer Team from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan

A group of ten lawyers, headed by financial services litigation partner Joshua Sohn, has made a move from the soon-to-be-dissolved firm Stroock & Stroock & Lavan to join Crowell & Moring. This employment shift is part of Crowell & Moring’s initiative to expand their presence in New York City.

Crowell & Moring, firm originated from Washington D.C., is steadily reinforcing its presence in the Big Apple. The recent joinings help increase the robustness of their Manhattan team, which now consists of approximately 150 lawyers and staff members. Like other law firms with an ambitious growth plan, Crowell & Moring has shown progress in its midmarket M&A practice.

The move of the Stroock litigation group was expected due to the imminent changes in their previous firm. Phil Inglima, chair of Crowell’s management board, mentioned in an interview that the firm had several relationships at Stroock which facilitated the move. He also emphasized that expanding in New York has been a serious priority for Crowell for some time.
