President Joe Biden’s granddaughter, Naomi Biden, is an associate at Arnold & Porter, and as a result of her close relations, is provided a Secret Service detail. The agents assigned to her detail found themselves in a precarious situation last weekend, when they observed three individuals attempting to break into what seemed to be an unmarked Secret Service vehicle.
The incident occurred on Sunday night in the Georgetown neighborhood, as reported by the Associated Press. In response to the attempted break-in, one agent fired their weapon. Currently, there is no evidence to suggest anyone was harmed in the situation.
The Secret Service subsequently released a statement, stating “One of the agents opened fire, but no one was struck by the gunfire […] The three individuals fled the scene in a red car. A regional bulletin has been issued to Metropolitan Police to be on the lookout for it.”
The chaotic incident and any potential affiliations it could have with Naomi Biden is currently under investigation. The details surrounding whether she was anywhere nearby when the incident transpired remain unclear.
