In the latest episode of LawNext, two separate interviews were conducted with Clio’s top product-focused executives. The first interview was with Jonathan Watson, Clio’s Chief Technology Officer; followed by an interview with Hemant Kashyap, Clio’s Chief Product Officer. The interviews were recorded live at the Clio Cloud Conference in Nashville in October.
Watson and Kashyap, while interviewed separately, work closely in their respective roles at Clio. As CTO, Watson had the dual role of overseeing technology and product before Kashyap’s appointment as the first Chief Product Officer last June. With this change, Watson revealed that they often work as partners in the realm of product development and delivery for Clio’s customers.
During the conference, Clio unveiled numerous major new products and updates. This was referred to as its most comprehensive product update since its inception 15 years ago. Among the innovations, the debut of Clio Duo gained particular attention. Set for a 2024 launch, this is a generative artificial intelligence tool that will be incorporated natively across all Clio products. Add-ons for personal injury lawyers and Clio File, a first-of-its-kind electronic court filing and service feature integrated directly in Clio Manage furthered the suite.
During their respective interviews, Watson and Kashyap discussed these new products and others in the pipeline, as well as the company’s long-term product strategy. They also shared their insights on generative AI and its potential impact on legal technology and legal practice.
The interviews also touched upon the rise of legal tech tools, especially Clio’s offerings such as PracticePanther, Bill4Time, MerusCase and LollyLaw. The discussions highlighted how they’ve helped shape the modern law firm by offering innovative solutions.
Finally, as a testament to the growing influence and necessity of legal tech in the industry, these discussions provided a renewed understanding of the necessity to evolve and adapt to the demands and expectations of modern law practice. In the contemporary world, data-driven insights, streamlined workflows, and intelligent automation provided by legal tech software like Clio are no longer a luxury, but a must-have for every gradationally savvy law firm.
