Steven Wheeler Joins PAG Real Assets as Deputy General Counsel in Tokyo

Former Withers’ Tokyo partner Steven Wheeler has been appointed as the new deputy general counsel of the PAG Real Assets in Tokyo. PAG is an alternative investment firm, based in Hong Kong.

Wheeler is an expert in real estate mergers and acquisitions, including the financing of such transactions. Having originally qualified in the U.S, Wheeler has been registered as a foreign attorney in Japan. Before joining PAG, Wheeler spent his career at several renowned law firms. He became a part of Withers in 2018, transitioning from White & Case and Japanese law firm Masuda & Partners. He was promoted to partner in 2021, and was integral in the leadership of Withers’ real estate practice in Tokyo, which was initiated in 2015.

In the previous year, PAG brought on board Gregory Salathé, a former partner at Jones Day, Sidley Austin, and Morgan Lewis & Bockius, as its general counsel.
