Maine’s Adams Bank & Trust Reports Data Breach Affecting Over 23,000 Clients

Adams Bank & Trust (“ABT”), on November 15, 2023 reported an occurrence of data breach that affected more than 23,000 of its clients. The bank informed the Attorney General of Maine about the breach after ascertaining that their computer system had been infiltrated by an unauthorized party. Read the full report here.

This breach resulted in unauthorized access to sensitive information of the clientele. Alongside the extraction of names, the unauthorized party gained access to various important details that include dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account information, and government-issued payment card information.

The incident is under review by the law firm, Console and Associates, P.C., the consequences of which are yet to be determined. Such breaches raise significant concerns regarding customer data security, drawing attention to the digital vulnerability of financial institutions worldwide.
