Ex-Judge Tracie Hunter’s Law License Suspended Over Felony Conviction

The Ohio Supreme Court has indefinitely suspended the law license of a former judge from the Cincinnati area. The suspension comes nine years after Tracie M. Hunter was found guilty of a felony, illegally assisting her brother, who was on the verge of being dismissed from a juvenile detention center.

Hunter, while serving as a Juvenile Court judge for Hamilton County, misused her power and let a close familial relationship improperly influence her behavior, as stated by the justices in their opinion.

This punishment aligns with what the Board of Professional Conduct proposed earlier in the year. The underlying case and the subsequent disciplinary actions underscore the importance of maintaining an absolute level of professional and personal decorum in legal practice while highlighting the disciplinary boundaries set up by professional conduct boards.
