The release of the 14th edition of Best Lawyers annual Best Law Firms Rankings on November 2nd saw the extensive use of both client submissions and peer evaluations in its creation. As Phillip Greer, CEO of Best Lawyers, notes, these recognitions are a serious matter for law firms and their credibility among peers.
Over 97,000 client submissions, 2.8 million votes, and 13.7 million firm evaluations of more than 23,000 firms were taken into account for the rankings, marking the first independently-published rankings on the company’s digital platform. This data-intensive process not only included national law firms but also provided recognition for regional ones.
In his conversation with Law.com, Greer elaborated that growth in this sector stems from understanding the needs of the industry, “To grow, we have to do it in congress with that actual industry,” he pointed out. This year’s expansive data collection and analysis seems to speak to that commitment.
“Every year we’ve seen some type of growth,” Greer notes, predicting that the trend will continue in future iterations of the ranking, thanks in part to the industry’s serious approach to these recognitions.
