Paul Weiss Expands UK Base with 14th Partner Acquisition from Kirkland & Ellis

Law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison has continued its series of dramatic partner acquisitions by hiring a 14th partner from Kirkland & Ellis’s London team, in a tumultuous process that has swelled its UK base with an array of significant hires since the beginning of this summer.

The latest addition to the Paul Weiss team is John Patten, an experienced hand from Kirkland’s technology and IP transactions practice. Patten had occupied this position at Kirkland for over five years, serving two of those years as a partner – details of which can be learned from his LinkedIn profile. Before his tenure at Kirkland, he had around five fruitful years as an associate at Linklaters.

This consistent series of targeted hires by Paul Weiss began this summer with the hiring of private equity partner Neel Sachdev and his team. This strategy might influence the corporate legal landscape and reshape the capacity of these prominent firms.
