Samsung Secures Patent Infringement Defense Win in 4G/LTE Cellular Standard Case

In a recent patent infringement trial settled in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. secured a legal victory, defended by a team led by globally recognized law firm, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.

The plaintiff, Evolved Wireless LLC, alleged that Samsung had infringed on three patents they had acquired from LG Corp. These patents, the plaintiff argued, were critical to the operation of the 4G/LTE cellular standard present in all of Samsung’s 4G-compatible devices, including phones, tablets, and smartwatches.

Nevertheless, the outcome of the case not only fortifies Samsung’s present standing within the market but also sets a potent precedent in the rapidly fluctuating field of patent litigation, as voiced by the defending team from Quinn Emanuel.
