Karen Leetzow Appointed Chicago Red Stars President, Strengthening Advocacy in Women’s Soccer

Karen Leetzow, former chief legal officer (CLO) of the U.S. Soccer Federation, is set to join the Chicago Red Stars women’s soccer team as its president. Leetzow is highly regarded in the field for her committed efforts towards preventing abuses within women’s soccer, whilst actively pushing for anti-discrimination reforms across the board in the sport in the United States.

Her shift follows an interesting development in the ownership of the National Women’s Soccer League team, which has recently seen a change in the form of new acquisition by Laura Ricketts, co-owner of the Chicago Cubs.

Leetzow, who has held the position of CLO for three years, has also been instrumental in helping the U.S. Women’s National Team secure improved pay conditions. This move to the Chicago Red Stars presents a new chapter in her spirited defense and promotion of women’s interests in sports.
