As the holiday season approaches, law firms worldwide are once again given an opportunity to engage in some festive creativity in the form of Above the Law’s 15th Annual Holiday Card Contest. As always, audits of holiday bonuses for Biglaw firms are commencing, signaling the onset of festive mood among legal professionals.
This year’s competition, which seeks narratives featuring an unusually clever, funny, or unconventional festive theme, has noted a novel preference for digital submissions. A nod, no doubt, to the increasing relevance of digital connectivity and also a reflection of the firm’s ecological commitments.
Given the widespread remote working patterns, paper holiday cards through traditional mailing systems have been discouraged. The contention is for e-card designs, which participants can submit either as a link or attachment to tips@abovethelaw.com. The submission guidelines implore participants to indicate “Holiday Card Contest” as the subject line of their emails, thereby facilitating the eventual collation of entries.
Further, participants are required to provide a brief explanation about what makes their card compelling, crafting a narrative that the organizers could potentially cite in the event of the submission making the cut to the finals. Submissions must be received before 11.59 p.m. on Friday, December 8, Jordan standard time. Sadly, there is no provision for exceptions to this deadline.
The contest allows for law firms to not only display their creativity but also promote an eco-friendly holiday celebration. It is certainly the most wonderful time of the year for the legal fraternity and Above the Law seems to be leading the charge this holiday season.
