One of the most eagerly awaited events during the holiday season has begun – the fifteenth annual holiday card contest held by Above the Law. Legal professionals look forward to this festivity full of creativity, wit, and of course, the subtle jesting that differentiates this contest from standard holiday card exchanges. Above the Law has already started receiving queries about the beginning of this year’s contest to which they’ve responded – the time has come.
The legal website sticks to its roots and has stipulated some important rules for entries. Developing from their commitment to the environment, the contest will solely consider e-cards. Paper cards sent via traditional mail will not be entertained this year, considering the Above the Law team has been mostly working remotely since March 2020. Entries can be sent via email, with either a link to the e-card or with the e-card itself as an attachment. However, the preference leans largely towards receiving entries as links. Submissions can be sent to tips@abovethelaw.com with the subject line “Holiday Card Contest”.
Participants should keep in mind that the competition is mainly for holiday or Christmas e-cards that are deemed worthy contenders. Outstanding cards displaying unusual cleverness, humor, or a distinct cool factor will be favored over safe or traditional cards. To explain more, contestants should steer clear of generic visuals or messages, such as typical winter landscapes or standard holiday greetings along with the law firm’s name. The competition is on the lookout for edgy and attitude-filled entries that bring some extra spice to the holiday spirit.
In the email submission, a brief explanation regarding the compelling aspects of the card should also be included. This explanation could be potentially quoted if the entry makes it to the finals. The last day for submissions is three weeks from the start date, falling on December 8, at 11:59 PM (New York time). No exceptions for late entries will be made.
