A&O Loses Another Partner as Kirkland & Ellis Continues to Expand

In a recent unexpected development, Allen & Overy (A&O)’s transactional partner, Josh Birenbaum, has left to join Kirkland & Ellis. Previously an associate at Kirkland & Ellis, Birenbaum’s departure is seen as a significant shift to the top-ranking Am Law firm. This move has been confirmed by an official announcement by Kirkland & Ellis.

It appears Birenbaum’s transition is not an isolated event in A&O. Monday brought news of a second partner’s exit as well. Andrea Lucan, formerly a managing partner of A&O and an expert in energy transactions, was also reported to be moving. Lucan’s departure was announced by Sidley Austin, who praised her addition to their team. Details of Lucan’s move can be found in an earlier report.

More information regarding the exits can be found in the original article at The Recorder.
