K&L Gates Bolsters Environmental and White Collar Practices with DOJ Lawyer Hires

Top multinational law firm, K&L Gates, has recently welcomed two highly experienced Justice Department lawyers, Varu Chilakamarri and Michael Culhane Harper, to the firm’s D.C. office. This strategic move is set to significantly strengthen K&L Gates’s environment, land, and natural resources practice, as well as its white collar defense and investigations practice.

Varu Chilakamarri joins the firm having served as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division’s Torts Branch. In addition to this, she has gained significant experience as an appellate attorney in the Environmental and Natural Resources Division and as acting Deputy in the Office of the Associate Attorney General. She has also honed her legal acumen by clerking for Judge R. Guy Cole in the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and Judge Timothy B. Dyk in the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Sharing this success, Michael Culhane Harper has showcased his expertise as a trial attorney in the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act unit of the Criminal Fraud Section. This experience makes him an invaluable addition to K&L Gates’s roster.
