The Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden in Hackensack has announced the appointment of Claude Heffron as their inaugural Stein Public Interest Fellow. Ms. Heffron joins the firm following a six-year tenure at the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender, where she fulfilled the role of assistant deputy public defender.
In her capacity as the inaugural fellow, Heffron will be serving for a full-time term of two years. She will work in collaboration with CJ Griffin, the center director, on amicus curiae work that is pro bono on criminal justice cases pending in the New Jersey Supreme Court. Further, Heffron is expected to undertake fee-shifting work that focuses on police transparency, open government, and civil rights. She will be making her appearances before state and federal trial and appellate courts in New Jersey.
