UNLV Tragedy: Campus Shooting Leads to Law School Exam Postponement

A tragic event unfolded at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) yesterday where three people were killed and one injured during a shooting spree. The suspect, identified as Anthony Polito, 67, was a professor who had previously sought employment at UNLV, according to authorities, was later killed in a shootout with the police. AP News reports.

The onset of the deadly shooting took place within the Lee Business School building. However, its impact has rippled throughout the entire University, as reported by USA Today.

In the wake of this violent occurrence, the law school has decided to postpone exams. One of the law students, Ben Robinson, was studying for his finals at the university’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building when the incident broke out. According to Robinson, law enforcement was provided with aid in the form of directions and water from those sheltering within.

Speaking about the implications of these events, Robinson, a father of three, expressed his need to return home and process the unnerving incident. He confirmed that the law school has postponed its final exams till the upcoming weekend.

Protracting these examinations indeed seems a rational decision by the university administration, considering the traumatic milieu enveloping the campus. The mental well-being of the students, at such a time, would presumably outweigh academic urgencies.

The whole UNLV community is in our thoughts at this difficult time. More information on the incident can be found on the original article published on Above the Law.
