Susman Godfrey Sets High Bar with Generous Raises and Bonuses for All Employees

As seasonal festivities approach, a well-known law firm, Susman Godfrey, is treating its employees to quite a generous gift. Known for their competitive policies, the firm, yet again, manages to raise the bar by rewarding each of its employees, regardless of position, with substantial pay raises. Even non-attorneys are finding themselves part of this company-wide appreciation gesture, a move often overlooked by many other firms. Earlier raises and bonus distributions tend to focus on attorneys, leaving non-attorney staff in the cold. However, Susman Godfrey has broken away from the norm, proving their recognition of all staff’s efforts and contributions to the firm’s successes.

Susman Godfrey, a firm that handles complex litigation and has often been compared to the likes of Cravath for the heft of their bonuses, this year is proving no different. A snapshot of these payouts, although impressive, doesn’t display the full magnitude of the gesture; as the firm has also opted to provide special bonuses, on top of annual traditional bonuses, to each one of its 270 employees – this includes their 131 non-attorney staff.

The firm’s dedication to employee satisfaction is evident. Given their history of generous pay packages, this latest gesture is unsurprising. One must note, however, that these bonuses are a reflection of the firm’s successful year and their approach to cultivating a positive work environment that supports not just their attorneys, but all of their staff.

While celebrations are certainly in order for the employees receiving these bonuses, it’s also a moment to appreciate models of business that value all employees. Susman Godfrey has set a high bar for others in terms of staff appreciation, and it will be interesting to observe if other firms follow suit.
