The image-sharing company Pinterest has announced the hiring of Michele Lee as their new General Counsel. An emerging talent in the legal field, Lee was recently featured in the San Francisco Business Times’ 2023 “Women of Influence” class. Having joined Pinterest in January 2021, initially as an assistant general counsel, her journey reflects a rapid rise through the ranks.
Within a year of joining the company, Lee was promoted to the position of deputy general counsel. Her latest promotion to General Counsel marks her third within a span of just three years with the company. Lee’s climb to the top was not without its trials, highlighting her perseverance and determination in the industry.
In a post on LinkedIn, Lee revealed some of the challenges she faced on her path, saying, “I’ve faced countless rejections and times when I’ve been told I wasn’t ready, I was too ambitious, not smart enough, too nice, or not nice enough.” Despite the setbacks, Lee’s consistent rise in Pinterest’s legal team reiterates her resilience and ability to consistently surpass expectations.
