Miami-based law firm Haber Law has recently unveiled plans to merge with local boutique firm, Gursky Ragan, a unique move which sees the firm expanding into an increasingly prominent niche: condominium law. Gursky Ragan’s specialty revolves mainly around condominiums and homeowners associations, an area of law that has been witnessing significant growth in Florida in recent years.
The merger arises amidst the unfolding context of stricter condominium safety regulations implemented by lawmakers after the tragic Champlain Towers South collapse in Surfside. These new laws have placed much of the ageing condominium infrastructure under scrutiny, thereby leading many old condo buildings to explore paths towards either extensive repairs or selling to developers.
Managing partner of Haber Law, David Haber, placed an emphasis on the importance of strategic growth through forging alliances with established infrastructure: “You can organically grow, which is very painful, or you can join forces with someone else that already has that infrastructure.” By these means, the merger represents a significant step in Haber Law’s ongoing expansion of its real estate practice.
