Bonnie Chan, a former partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell in Hong Kong, is set to become the first female Chief Executive at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX). Chan’s pioneering role will commence in May 2024.
Chan, 54 years old, left Davis Polk to return to HKEX in 2019, taking up the position as head of listings department. At the beginning of this year, she climbed further up the ranks by being promoted to co-Chief Operating Officer. Her responsibilities include supervising the Chief China Economist’s Office, corporate communications, group strategy, human resources, mainland development, as well as LME Clear, an entity providing clearing and settlement services for users of the London Metal Exchange.
Chan initially joined Davis Polk & Wardwell in 2010, playing a key role in launching the US firm’s practice in Hong Kong.
