In the past half-year, significant movement has been noted in the Polish legal scene with big-name firms establishing a foot on the ground. Clyde & Co has carved out a presence in Warsaw by bringing on board a team from Dentons. Two large teams from Polish national firms have been integrated into Austria-based regional firms, Wolf Theiss and Schoenherr.
It has long been logical for multinational law firms to gravitate towards Poland, the largest economy in Central and Eastern Europe. The country hosts a variety of established branches of U.S.- and U.K.-based law firms. These include, but are not limited to, Clifford Chance, White & Case, Baker McKenzie, and Allen & Overy. The French firm Gide Loyrette Nouel maintains a sizeable office in Warsaw, and the German firm Noerr ramped up its Warsaw team last year with twin partner hires from Polish establishments.
