The generative artificial intelligence start-up, Harvey, recently announced a Series B funding round raising $80 million. The round was co-led by notable investor and entrepreneur Elad Gil and top-tier venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, with additional participation from OpenAI Startup Fund and Sequoia. This investment surge takes the total funding value for Harvey to exceed $100 million. More details on the funding round can be found here.
Harvey’s proprietary technology employs OpenAI’s GPT models to build custom applications specifically for law firms. In the year since its inception, Harvey has successfully formed partnerships with several significant figures within the legal technology industry. The pioneering law firm to adopt Harvey’s generative AI was Allen & Overy in February. Allen & Overy’s transition to incorporating AI-powered assistance in their professional services was considered a valuable milestone. Shortly after, Macfarlanes followed suit, introducing Harvey into their company processes in September.
In addition, Harvey has expressed its intent to use this recent infusion of funding to enhance its custom model building capabilities, expand its team, and continue the development of its wide-ranging suite of product features.
