Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is mandated to participate in a deposition concerning a wrongful termination lawsuit. The lawsuit, which has been ongoing for three years, originated from top employees in Paxton’s office. These whistleblowers allege that they were fired in retaliation for making a complaint to the FBI. Throughout this process, Paxton has steadfastly tried to avoid sitting for deposition.
The case has been on a 10-month hiatus but State District Judge Jan Soifer recently ruled that it can proceed. This decision dismissed Paxton’s repeated contention that a final settlement had been met, thereby rendering future proceedings unnecessary. Previously, Paxton had agreed to a $3.3 million settlement with the four senior aides involved in the lawsuit.
