Disney Extends General Counsel Horacio Gutierrez’s Contract, Elevates Role to Chief Legal Officer

Walt Disney Co. has announced changes for General Counsel Horacio Gutierrez, including a contract extension and new professional title. According to a securities filing last week, Gutierrez will have his role expanded and his term extended until December 31, 2026.

Previously known as the general counsel at Disney, Gutierrez was appointed two years ago to replace the then-general counsel, Alan Braverman. Now, succeeding an eventful two-year tenure, Gutierrez has been granted the title of chief legal officer. Earlier this year, he also took up additional duties as chief compliance officer, following the company’s parting with former officer Alicia Schwarz.

The company’s decision to maintain Gutierrez’s efforts for a longer duration underlines their confidence in his leadership. This comes after an exciting period, marked by significant legal and corporate developments at Disney.
