Duane Morris Succeeds in Bicoastal Leadership, Appoints Stephen Sutro to Manage 400-Lawyer Trial Practice Group

A top litigator from Duane Morris’ California office, Stephen Sutro, recently found himself overseeing the firm’s trial practice lawyers after achieving an appointment to bicoastal leadership in its largest department. As previously reported, Sutro, who has spent nearly ten years as the managing partner for the San Francisco office, succeeds Wayne Mack from the Philadelphia office. Mack had been helming the over 400-lawyer trial practice group since 2018, sharing responsibilities with Philadelphia colleague, Sharon Caffrey. Despite the leadership change, Caffrey remains co-chair, while Mack transitions to an emeritus position.

The change in leadership roles was effective as of January 1. According to Matt Taylor, Duane Morris’ Chair and CEO, it many strategic advantages to have the co-head of the firm’s largest practice group based on the West Coast, particularly as California is a key growth region for the firm.
