William Hochul Jr., the husband of New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) and former General Counsel for the hospitality company Delaware North, is joining Davis Polk & Wardwell. His new appointment comes after his departure from Delaware North in August.
Hochul will serve as counsel in the white collar defense and investigations practice in New York, where he will counsel clients on issues such as complex government and internal investigations, crisis management, and risk mitigation strategies. Davis Polk & Wardwell’s managing partner, Neil Barr, remarked on Hochul’s record and said that his experience makes him “especially attuned to the needs of our clients.”
Prior to his position at Delaware North, which he stepped down on August 15, Hochul spent nearly three decades at the US Department of Justice in various roles. In 2009, President Obama nominated Hochul to serve as the US Attorney for the Western District of New York. He accepted this role and carried out his duties until his shift to Delaware North in 2016.
