In a legal turn of events, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, along with former partner Todd Blanche, have counterclaimed against former clients – Adam and Daniel Kaplan. The exact contentious point circles around alleged legal malpractice, as claimed by the clients back in 2023.
The law firm pronounced through court documents that the clients were, in fact, still due in their arbitration of more than $1.2 million in legal fees. The firm’s claims, lodged in late December, articulated breach of contract, quantum meruit, coupled with a judgement endorsed against the Kaplans for a minimum of $1.2 million in unpaid fees. Moreover, the firm is seeking an additional 9% interest on account of late payment.
Last year, It was the Kaplans who sought legal action against the firm and its former partner Todd Blanche, accusing them of legal malpractice. However, Cadwalader and Blanche have deemed those allegations as “baseless”. Neither party has issued further statements in the wake of this latest development in their ongoing legal battle.
