Alina Habba, Trump’s legal representative, recently urged Justice Brett Kavanaugh to support Trump in the ongoing election interference prosecution on Sean Hannity’s show. According to Habba, Kavanaugh owes his position to Trump and should therefore step up to defend him. “I think it should be a slam dunk in the supreme court. I have faith in them…,” Habba stated.
This statement comes at a time when Trump’s legal team is cautioning the justices against taking hasty actions. In a recent document submitted to the Supreme Court, they suggest that the complex nature of the case warrants careful deliberation.
Contrary to Habba’s claim, reports suggest that Trump’s legal team expects to lose on the immunity argument. According to Rolling Stone, the legal team sees the election interference case as a “suicide mission”. This is further supported by a statement from New York Times Trump whisperer Maggie Haberman, stating that Trump’s legal team does not have a positive outlook regarding the presidential immunity.
It seems that aside from Alina Habba, Trump’s legal team is less optimistic about the outcome of this case. The extent to which the justices, including Kavanaugh, will align with Trump’s interests remains to be seen.
