James Newell Takes the Helm as CEO of Prestigious Law Firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, one of the top law firms, recently elected James Newell as their new CEO. The appointment, as indicated by the firm in a press release, became effective from Jan. 10.

The previous chairman and CEO, Joe Dougherty, is expected to continue serving the firm in his capacity through May 2024, sharing the responsibilities and ensuring a smooth transition of leadership over the next five months.

Newell is not new to decision-making roles within the firm. He has previously served as a member of the company’s board and chaired the financial institutions, bankruptcy, and real estate section. His law practice is primarily focused around representing secured creditors and financial institutions in bankruptcy matters and corporate reorganizations. His leadership and experience are seen as valuable assets as he transitions into his new executive role.

In a post-Dougherty Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, Newell’s tenure will definitely be one to watch. As his track record demonstrates a deep understanding of financial law and large-scale corporate matters, there will be a keen interest in seeing how this expertise influences his approach to leading one of the industry’s most prestigious law firms.
