Greenberg Traurig Boosts Litigation Practice with Former U.S. Attorney Thomas O’Brien in LA

Greenberg Traurig’s Los Angeles branch is augmenting its litigation and white-collar defense practice with the addition of former U.S. attorney, Thomas O’Brien. With three decades of experience, O’Brien brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm, previously hailing from the California-based boutique Ellis George.

Throughout his career, O’Brien has worked both as a prosecutor and as a litigator in white-collar cases. This versatile background most recently saw him defending retired U.S. Navy admiral Bruce Loveless against accusations of a $35 million fraud operation against the Navy, a case whose charges were eventually dropped. His expertise will undoubtedly enrich the capabilities of Greenberg Traurig’s litigation department.

O’Brien’s departure from Ellis George comes closely on the heels of a team, including former White House counsel Pat Cipollone, leaving for a firm founded by former U.S. attorney general William Barr. In total, O’Brien’s move marks the tenth exit from Ellis George this week alone. To learn more about the details of this development, click here.
