Former Patent Judge Kristi Sawert Joins Fish & Richardson’s Post-Grant Practice Group

Kristi Sawert, a renowned figure in the legal field with 14 years of experience with the US Patent and Trademark Office, has now joined Fish & Richardson PC. She will be joining as a principal in the firm’s post-grant practice group, as recently announced by the firm. Her previous roles at the US Patent and Trademark Office have encompassed a variety of functions, including the significant role of administrative patent judge on the PTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Adding to Sawert’s seasoned experience is a year she spent working closely with the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet. This direct exposure to the legislative process and workings of Capitol Hill will materially augment her perspective and practice as she transitions into her new role at Fish & Richardson.

Her role in the post-grant practice group at Fish & Richardson PC will see her primarily representing life sciences clients, specifically those in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. This marks a strategic hire for the firm as she brings with her a wealth of experience from her time serving on the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, an integral part of the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Sawert communicated her anticipation and readiness for this career transition. “I’ve loved working for the government,” she stated.
