In a swift move, the American Bar Association (ABA) has posted two memos seeking notice and comment within the same week. This comes ahead of the scheduled February commission meeting, raising possibilities whether this process would be similar to what took place with the GRE in 2021.
One of the memos published by the ABA is from the Atlanta Judicial Commission. The commission is now accepting nominations for the position of Municipal Court Judge for the City of Atlanta Municipal Court. Members of the bar, along with the public, are encouraged to nominate candidates meeting the criteria of being at least 25 years of age, a resident of the City of Atlanta for a year preceding the appointment, and having been admitted to the State of Georgia bar for at least five years. Nominations need to be submitted before February 10, 2024, to Commission’s chair, Von A. DuBose, Esq.
Another highlight of the week was Charles S.Warren’s transition from being the Chair of the Kramer Levin Environmental Practice Group to a partner position at McLaughlin & Stern, LLP. Mr. Warren, a former regional administrator with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, comes with an impressive track record of 40 years in the field of environmental law.
These recent happenings underline how legal processes and personnel changes continue to unfold at a brisk pace. It is left to see whether the ABA’s pattern with handling the JD-Next process would mirror the events that transpired with the GRE in 2021.
