AffiniPay IQ: Integrating AI to Revolutionize Workflow for Legal Professionals

AffiniPay, the parent authority for a set of technological solutions to handle law practices and take online payments, including LawPay and MyCase, recently announced the introduction of AffiniPay IQ. This directional strategy aims to integrate generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all of its products and make AI an integral part of legal professionals’ daily workflows.

The initiative began with the release of the first pair of features in beta on the MyCase law practice management platform. AffiniPay plans to widen its use of generative AI within MyCase and to include its other legal technology products, too. This comprises CASEpeer, the case management platform for personal injury practices, LawPay, the online payment gateway, and Docketwise, the practice management platform for immigration lawyers.

Generative AI will play a crucial role in providing a modern legal practice management platform, according to Dru Armstrong, AffiniPay’s CEO. Two new features rolled out in MyCase’s beta version include:

  • Document summarization: Simplifies document reviews by enabling an AI-generated summary.
  • Text editing: Users can update their writing to modify the tone or style and can shorten the text.

These features are available to all MyCase customers and will soon be incorporated into CASEpeer and LawPay.

AffiniPay is focusing on these specific features as its customers identified document review and text editing as pivotal areas in their daily legal operations. Both features utilize generative AI, which can eliminate major hindrances in time-consuming tasks. The company’s vision is to provide an intelligent conversational interface through which firms can get custom recommendations, automate routine tasks, and extract data using natural language.

AffiniPay adopts a deliberate approach towards potential privacy concerns raised by third-party AI models while deploying generative AI. To make the platforms smarter, sophisticated, and ensure data privacy and security, the company plans to integrate additional features in the future, such as communication drafts, translations, task and event generation, and data population.

The company is harnessing OpenAI’s GPT large language model through its application programming interface (API). It reassures customers that no data is used by OpenAI to train its LLM models.

After rolling out these preliminary features, Armstong emphasizes her long-term vision is to reimagine how professionals interact with AffiniPay’s platforms. She envisages using generative AI to enhance LawPay and the overall payment experience.
