Eligio (Eli) Regalado, a pastor at the Colorado-based Victorious Grace Church, along with his wife Kaitlyn Regalado have been indicted by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies for allegedly defrauding their congregation of over $1.3 million via a cryptocurrency fraud scheme. Asserting that “the Lord told us to,” the pastor confessed in a video (which is now in-private) to the allegations levelled against him, totaling above $3.2 million of fraudulent activities.
According to the legal filing, the defendants used their influence in the church community to exploit more than 300 investors, using their faith and trust to fund personal expenses. This alleged misuse of funds includes a broad range of expenditures, from home renovations and vacations to luxury handbags, cosmetic dentistry expenses, and even snowmobile adventures.
The distribution of these illegally obtained funds has been partially detailed by Eligio himself. He reportedly stated in the video that half a million dollars of this sum was paid to the IRS and a substantial amount was spent on home renovations – all acts guided by what he claimed were divine instructions.
