Renowned lawyer ranking and peer review entity, Best Lawyers recently announced key appointments in its executive suite. Kevin Vermeulen, who brings substantial legal advertising and marketing experience, has assumed the position of Senior Vice President of Business Development. Concurrently, Josh Rupall, a long-serving lead for the sales team, has been appointed Director of Client Success.
Vermeulen is expected to utilize the depth of his legal market acumen to forge relationships with eminent lawyers and law firms. The goal is to integrate traditional marketing and publishing methodologies together with digital services already offered by Best Lawyers.
A seasoned veteran in legal marketing and advertising, Vermeulen has dedicated over three decades of his career to this field, 22 of those years in senior management roles focused on aiding law firms, lawyers and vendors scale their operations.
Vermeulen’s association with Best Lawyers started in August last year, when the company acquired digital marketing agency, Good2bSocial. At Good2bSocial, which specializes in serving law firms, legal marketers, lawyers and legal-industry institutions, he held the position of Partner and Chief Operating Officer.
Previously, Vermeulen was with ALM Media, a legal and business publishing company, serving as the Senior Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer, and Chief Marketing Officer. Vermeulen’s new role at Best Lawyers, he said, is a golden opportunity to expand their innovative and comprehensive marketing solutions for firms and further cement the company’s relationships in the legal fraternity.
Commending the appointments, Phillip Greer, the CEO of Best Lawyers, described this move as a sign of the company’s unparalleled growth and expressed his anticipation for the contributions Vermeulen is poised to bring to the company’s next stage of development.
Since its inception in 1981 by Steven Naifeh and Gregory Smith, Best Lawyers has maintained momentum as one of the earliest entities to offer peer-reviewed rankings of lawyers. The firm took a pivotal turn in 2021 when it was acquired by Abry Partners, a private equity firm.
