Deidré A. Keller, the former dean at Florida A&M University College of Law, suddenly resigned from her position on January 31. In her resignation letter, Keller explained that her vision for the school’s sustained success did not align with that of the University’s.
She cited “steadily escalating unreasonable demands” that made executing her work at the institution effectively impossible. Her efforts to enhance the student body and its relationships with broader community stakeholders, such as the bar and bench, were not well-received. Keller stated these engagements were met with actions from the University that she perceived as abusive.
The resignation letter, addressed to Allyson Leggett Watson, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, was later disclosed by the Tallahassee Democrat. In it, Keller expressed, “At this juncture, it is clear that the University’s vision for the College of Law no longer resonates with my vision for sustained success at the College.”
