According to a report by Bloomberg Law, Rudy Giuliani, former lawyer to Donald Trump, is being asked to divulge more information about the individuals responsible for covering his legal expenses. The demand for disclosures came from his creditors and a bankruptcy judge. Read more.
The request for information about his donors was made as Giuliani is seeking to challenge a $148 million judgment. This penalty was a result of his defamation lawsuit loss to two Georgia poll workers, whom he had accused of manipulating the results of the 2020 presidential election. This led him to file for bankruptcy in December.
On the matter of his legal funding, it is disclosed by his legal team that a Giuliani litigation fund has received financial support from “hundreds” of donors. Most contributors have provided under $100, however, donations of $10,000 and $25,000 have also been reported. Gary C. Fischoff of Berger Fischoff Shumer Wexler & Goodman LLP, one of Giuliani’s bankruptcy lawyers, revealed in a court hearing that Giuliani had not contributed to the fund. However, Judge Sean H. Lane from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York urged for a more definitive written answer.
