French law firm Fidal has made a strategic addition to its team in the form of a new Africa-focused international arbitration partner, Manuel Tomas, in order to steer and scale its regional practice. This move can be seen as part of an ongoing trend where international corporations and their law firms are showing increased interest in tapping into the rapidly growing markets of Africa.
Fidal’s international arbitration team, which Manuel has now joined, is led by Daniel Rota, a partner in Paris for mediation, disputes, and arbitration. Manuel comes with two and half years experience as a partner at Foley Hoag in Paris, which itself could serve as a solid foundation for his new role at Fidal.
Fidal is also looking to nurture the expansionary zeal of its network partners in Europe and other regions, thereby signaling a phase of growth for the firm. By reinforcing its international arbitration team, the firm aims to significantly increase its capacity to handle arbitration work in both Africa and Europe.
