Last month, a landmark announcement was made by David Elsberg, a founding member of the Selendy Gay Elsberg firm. Elsberg revealed that he would be leaving to start his own firm, Elsberg Baker & Maruri, in partnership with his former Quinn Emanuel colleagues, Rollo Baker and Silpa Maruri. Above The Law covered the story in-depth.
The new firm officially commenced operations earlier this week, carrying two more Selendy Gay partners along. Details of the new launch are elucidated vividly by Bloomberg Law.
Michael Duke and Vivek Tata are joining Elsberg at Elsberg Baker & Maruri. Speaking to Bloomberg, Elsberg described the firm’s core focus as both plaintiff and defense work and that they expect to handle around five trials and arbitrations in 2022.
Selendy Gay founding partner, Faith Gay expressed her excitement regarding their first notable spin-off firm. She mentioned her hopes to collaborate with the newly formed firm, as Selendy Gay typically does with other firms on complex legal matters.
From the discussion with Bloomberg, Elsberg stated that the new firm aims to hire 14 associates in the next two months. It will follow a seven-year promotion track, which paves the way for associates to elevate to equity partnerships. The partners are expected to receive modified lock-step compensation, based on their seniority and rank, with additional benefits depending upon business origination.
Our congratulatory note goes to Elsberg Baker & Maruri as the firm embarks on a path to success.
