DLA Piper, one of the largest law firms worldwide, recently announced the election of London-based Charles Severs as its next co-chief executive officer. Severs will officially assume the role in January 2025. He will serve alongside Frank Ryan, a New York-based partner who was reelected to a second term as co-CEO earlier this year.
Severs’ selection comes after a competitive process, overcoming Paris-based partner Stéphane Lemarchand, who was also in contention for the role. As an M&A lawyer, Severs has been with DLA Piper since 2003.
Current co-CEO Simon Levine will conclude his term as international managing partner in December 2024, after a decade-long tenure. Levine will transition into a new role at the firm as a Strategic Innovation Partner.
In a statement, Severs expressed his excitement and dedication to DLA Piper, stating, “This is an incredibly proud moment for me. I have spent the vast majority of my career at DLA Piper and care passionately about this great firm and the fantastic people that make us who we are.”
DLA Piper is a global law firm with more than 4,200 lawyers and offices around the world, including Tunisia, Singapore, and Argentina. With this change in leadership, DLA Piper continues to position itself as a leading player in the legal field.
