Paul Hastings, a prominent law firm, is set to significantly bolster its ranks with the acquisition of an eight-member team from Texas-based Vinson & Elkins. The new additions consist of lawyers specializing in finance, who are expected to enrich Paul Hastings’ finance practice.
Noteworthy members of this team include Brian Moss and Christopher Dewar, who co-chaired Vinson & Elkins’ global finance practice. Additional partners making the move are Erec Winandy, Guy Gribov, Bailey Pham, James Longhofer, Rafael Alvarado, and Alex Cross. According to undisclosed sources, the timing for this transfer remains undetermined and the team could potentially encompass up to two dozen lawyers.
Some members from this new collaboration are set to join the recently established Dallas office of Paul Hastings, while others will be based in the firm’s Houston office that was opened back in 2012. This transfer is one of several strategic moves made by Paul Hastings as they continually enhance their financial practice.
In February of this year, the firm added a three-member finance team from Akin Gump based out of Houston, including David Elder, Christopher Centrich, and Patrick Hurley. Moreover, last year, Paul Hastings recruited a three-partner team from Cahill Gordon & Reindel, a leading finance firm, and a four-partner team from Latham & Watkins in London.
The firm’s expansion strategies have led them to witness significant financial achievements, with its revenue surging by roughly 9% the previous year to achieve $1.8 billion. This rise is approximately a 15% increase from 2021.
This noteworthy addition of the finance team from Vinson & Elkins to Paul Hastings was initially reported by The American Lawyer. Official confirmation and further information from Paul Hastings and Vinson & Elkins are still awaited.
