Ukraine Invasion: Legal Professionals Navigate War and Restitution Efforts

In 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, drastically altering the lives of Ukrainians and the landscape of legal business in the country. Despite the invasion, legal professionals strove to maintain business continuity while facing the grim realities of warfare and the safety of their families.

Two years since the invasion, Law.com International conducted an interview with two important voices in the Ukrainian legal sphere. These included Timur Bondaryev, a leading lawyer and managing partner at Arzinger, and Aarif Abraham, a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers and adviser to the Justice for Ukraine campaign.

They discussed the upheavals in their daily life, marked by frequent air raids, and the surge in legal work in a nation under siege. Moreover, they hinted at the intense workload focused on the restitution efforts, hoping to bring justice and recompense for the hardships endured.

While a good portion of the detailed narrative remains behind a paywall, the interview offers a profound look into the lives of these legal professionals and their undeterred efforts to administer justice amidst ongoing turmoil.
