Renowned singer and actress Erika Girardi is required to respond to allegations from her former costume designer. The designer claimed in the Los Angeles federal court that Girardi instigated an unwarranted prosecution on the grounds of false accusations of credit card fraud. According to Bloomberg Law, Girardi had allegedly committed credit card fraud of over $800,000.
US District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald of the Central District of California denied Girardi’s motion to dismiss the case against her on Tuesday. The legal battle comes into play when designer Christopher Psaila presented sufficient evidence, which included emails, text messages and social media posts.
As per the details of the case, the evidence could potentially convince a jury that Girardi was well-aware that she was faking her allegations. The former wife of disbarred plaintiffs’ attorney Tom Girardi is thus charged to face these serious allegations. The case brought by Psaila will certainly be monitored closely as it may have significant legal implications in future dealings and related cases.
