The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), has mandated that Ireland pay €2.5 million to the European Commission for not incorporating a 2018 European Union directive into local law. In addition to the lump sum payment, a daily fine of €10,000 was also imposed. Effective from the day of the ruling, February 29, the fine will remain in place until the directive is completely transposed.
