NFL Taps International Law Firms for Expansion into Spain and South America

The United States’ National Football League (NFL) is making strides in its expansion to new global markets. For its first-ever regular season games in Spain and South America, the NFL has tapped international law firm Baker McKenzie and its Brazilian partner firm, Trench, Rossi and Watanabe Advogados, for legal guidance.

It was a joint pitch from Baker McKenzie’s teams of Spanish and Brazilian lawyers that secured the firm this new client. Madrid-based partner David Díaz has been a key figure in this process, according to Law.com International.

As the NFL continues its efforts to broaden its international reach, these football debuts in Madrid and São Paulo represent significant movements within the sports industry’s legal landscape.
