Infowars Bankruptcy Case Faces Turmoil as Lead Attorney Seeks Withdrawal

The lead lawyer for Free Speech Systems LLC, the bankrupt parent of Infowars – the right-wing media company – has made a move to withdraw from the company’s Chapter 11 case. According to attorney Ray Battaglia, who has been the lead counsel for the company since 2022, his relationship with the appointed chief restructuring officer, accountant J. Patrick Magill, is “fundamentally broken”.

It seems a dispute over whether to pursue an unspecified legal claim against the estate has caused irreparable damage to their professional relationship. This is a significant development considering the company is currently trying to advance a Chapter 11 plan of reorganization as an effort to address about $1.5 billion in claims.

The move by Battaglia represents yet another twist in the turbulent bankruptcy proceedings of Free Speech Systems. The fallout from this withdrawal motion may have implications for all related legal and bankruptcy processes surrounding the company.
