Former FDIC Deputy General Counsel Andrew Karp Joins Cadwalader as Partner

Andrew Karp, former Deputy General Counsel and Senior Special Counsel at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), has taken a position as partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in New York according to an announcement made by the firm earlier this week.

Prior to his tenure at the FDIC, Karp held several significant positions within the banking sector. Notably, he served as US General Counsel and Chief Regulatory Officer at the Bank of Montreal and spent time as Managing Director and Senior Managing Counsel at the Bank of New York Mellon. He also has experience working at the Federal Reserve. His wide-ranging and high-level experience in both governmental and corporate roles make him a valuable addition to the Cadwalader team.

The addition of such an experienced individual to their collective should significantly bolster Cadwalader’s bank regulatory team. It will be interesting to see how Karp’s presence impacts the firm’s strategy and operations moving forward. His practical experience within different facets of the sector, combined with his regulatory expertise, make him a strong asset.
